Billabong 22/02

This medal round is the last before the grand final in March when all 12 monthly winners are invited to play to find this year’s champion. This is the third year that Brian Chapman from Haven Consultants (Financial Advisers) has sponsored this event, both male and female, and we cannot thank Brian enough for his continued support. Fantastic weather to play golf but the fairways at Green Valley are resembling a patchwork quilt with areas of brown and bright green depending on which sprinklers are working. The greens have been scarified which made them considerably slower than usual and many putts were left just a shade short of the hole. So Green Valley has announced that the course will be closed from April 17th until November and arrangements will be made for members to play at Silky Oaks. 48 golfers today and looking through the cards there were many triple and quadruple bogies which do nothing for your medal round, having said that, Miss Tan had no such problems and continued her excellent form to win the prize with a  63 net followed by Miss Da who, despite being seen climbing a tree on the 10th, had a round of 67 net for 2nd but well ahead of Miss Pin on 72 net and Miss Nu with a net 73. Sel Wegner, trying once again to demolish the bunker on the 8th, but recovering well to finish 4th with a net 72. William Macey lost out to Gerard Lambert, both on 71 net, but Gerard edged ahead with 1 shot better on the 13th hole the only difference on the back nine. Jim Brackett qualifies for the grand final being the day’s winner with a net 70.  Four twos today going to Jim Brackett, Brian Chapman, Miss Nu and one to a visitor from Freemantle whose nickname is Tao.
