WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12TH

GREEN VALLEY

STABLEFORD

Some bunkers were flooded following heavy rain yesterday, Tuesday, and  there are positive signs that the course is improving but there are still some large areas where the grass has disappeared and one would suggest that if the greens staff are waiting for  the grass to grow they will be waiting a long time. These areas will need to be re-turfed before the course reverts to its previous pristine condition. Only 6 groups today with many using there rain checks obtained from last week’s washout at Laem Chabang. In the ladies competition,  it was great to welcome back Miss Sa (21) following a lengthy layoff due to ill health with a creditable 34 points , which could have been better had she not blobbed the last hole. In 2nd place was Miss Ta (23) with 37 points who had a very steady round with only one double bogey on the way home. But Miss Porn (22) made a return to form with 40 points with only two 1 pointers in the 18 holes but a birdie on the par five 7th helped to keep the score moving. Selwyn Wegner (15) won a countback to occupy 3rd place with 35 points mainly due to a depression between the 10th and 13th holes with only 4 points. William Macey (22) was going well until the 10th which yielded no points and a double on the last hole for a total of 37 points to let in Jeff North (10) with 38 points to win the day. For the 2nd week running, there were no 2s.
