THE GROWLING SWAN ADDS COLOUR TO RAKPUAN HOME
The telephone rang, it was Peter Blackburn of The Growling Swan. Not entirely unexpected for there had been many occasions in the last 2 years when he had contacted me to let me know they had collected some funds they would like to donate to a good cause.
How do they raise funds? Small fines are imposed when they play golf for minor indiscretions like losing a ball in the water, being late on the tee or the greatest crime of all, spilling your beer or, even worse, someone else’s beer. More than 120,000 baht has been raised in this way benefitting, children with special needs, orphans, clean drinking water for school children and sports equipment to a school in Nongplalai.
On this occasion, Ban Pak Rakpuan were the beneficiaries. A centre for adults living with HIV bursting at the seams in their present location having to use tents for sleeping. They had the good fortune recently to be offered some land in Nongprue to use as their new home, albeit overgrown, but they have had to start from scratch first task was to clear the site and building houses, toilets and a kitchen for future use followed. Rakpuan couldn’t thank the members of The Growling Swan enough for them to have donated sufficient funds to enable them to build a small, colourful house, as you can see, which will become home for 4 of the Rakpuan residents.
But this is just the start. Pattaya Sports Club are helping the development at the centre to house 40 residents but if you would like to make a donation or if any golf outlet would like a recommendation who to support, please contact the PSC via the contact page.
The generosity of the members of PSC is overwhelming but in this case well done everyone at The Growling Swan.
