FR. RAY CENTRE FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
PATTAYA SPORTS CLUB NEWS UPDATE
On March 24th, a ground breaking ceremony was arranged to commemorate the announcement of a new building to be built at the Redemptorist Centre For Children With Special Needs.
Many celebrities were there including the Mayor of Pattaya Itthipole Khunplome. Khun Wittaya Khunplome – President Chonburi Administrative Organisation in addition and many guests were invited to the ceremony.
For many parents, caring for a child with special needs can be difficult. They may not have the knowledge of how to care for a child with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy etc. but the Redemptorist Centre offers support to both the child and parents and they are encouraged to attend daily sessions to enable family to cope with a child with special needs. The children are taught to read and write and physiotherapy sessions are held regularly to improve muscle tone and for parents to learn how exercises can continue at home.
Many of these children have great difficulty doing the things that most of us take for granted like walking just a few paces, dressing themselves and many other everyday activities. But if you have never had close contact with one of these children, you will find them friendly, loving and unafraid to have close contact with those they meet.
There is a problem however. The area allocated to for this purpose is very small and totally inadequate for only a small number of children can be accommodated at each session although there are many children that could be treated if space permitted hence the need for larger premises.
Donations have been made by the Thai Government, recognizing the urgent need for such a facility, the Chonburi Administration and from companies based abroad only willing to offer assistance in such a worthwhile venture.
