Another Super Sunday at Softball
Sunday July 6th was another super day for Softball at Jimmy’s field of dreams in Jomtien (near the small plane airport just off soi 15 and sukhumvit). Although some of the usual cast of characters couldn’t make both of the double header games, the boys still managed to pick fair teams and play 2 very competitive matches.
Game 1 was where Captains Perry and Phil had to so some creative thinking to get a game going since we only had 12 players at this time. Alan volunteered to be all time pitcher, with Tom,Rhys and Sam agreeing to play both ways at shortstop,3rd base, and left field, respectively. The remaining 8 were split into 2 teams with Perry, Shawn, Diego and Rocky taking on Josh, Jack, Phil and John CF. There was lots of at bats for all, and lots of homeruns and scoring took place. Perry increased his batting average the most, going 8 for 9 with 3 RBI’s. Diego had a big bat, belting out 3 homeruns in a 6 for 9 performance. Not to be outdown, Phil’s team had homeruns from both Jack and Josh, while Phil managed to go 6 hits for 9 at bats. It was a close hitters duel, but in the end Perry’s foursome was too strong and won the match 13 to 11. See boxscore below for more details.
Game 2 saw the welcomed appearance of Jim Bob, and his 14 yr old son Robert. The boys were also able to convince Larry out of retirement, and he proved you can strike out and fall down at any age. The 3 new players added much zest to the second game, and new team names. It was now Perry’s Pounders (of the ball, and nothing else) versus the Krocker Crushers. The game was another high scoring affair, that went down to the wire. Hi lites of the game were: young Robert’s 3 run triple in the 4th followed by a diving catch to get out his teacher Diego in the 5th. Larry’s strike out with a 10.0 fall down dive (luckily only his pride was injured on the play), and Shawn’s game winning triple in the bottom of the 7th to score Perry from 1st base and win the game 19to 18.

Top 5 reasons to come out to Softball
5 The Lord may have rested on the 7th day, but since you are either retired, or here on vacation, you should get out and do some exercise on Sunday!
4 Every age is welcome, this week we had a 15 years old, and a few 70 something year olds. You are never too young or too old for Softball!
3 Jimmy’s field of dreams is a great place to enjoy the hot sun, cold beer and some cool sporting action!
2 A great opportunity to meet some quality Farangs who live in Pattaya and Bangkok.
1 You are guaranteed to get some (probably much needed) exercise and to have some fun!
