Links Golf 7/7

PSC Golf …Pattaya Links Golf Society…Pattana….Friday.July 7..S/ford

 Paul Bray A Mud Runner

A trip to Pattana is always exciting because it is such a beautiful Course. Today 18 players were excited and gathered at Links Bar early to board the two Mini Busses.

A few spots on the windscreen as we travelled the “7” seemed not to arouse comment. Arrival and check in was easy, and pleasantly surprised at the good rate we were charged, thank you. So on to greet our caddies and head to the A1 tee.

Carts were allowed only on the paths so lift, clean and place was the order of the day. As we walked the first fairway, it was obvious there had been recent rain, as there were plenty of soft spots. That was the case for the A course. The next nine to play was the B course and, although feeling a little firmer, still had some wet areas.

The Greens, however, were in very good condition as even I made some good long putts..

Some can have problems playing on damp ground, while others seem to revel in the conditions.

Paul Bray and Wayne Peppernell did just that. Paul had a great 40 points off his low handicap of 10, finishing ahead of Wayne who scored 38 points from his 16 handicap.

Phil Davies once again was on the board taking third spot in “A” flight on countback from his pal, Maurice Roberts

“B” flight scoring was a little less impressive where Stuart Thompson lead the way with 33 points. But a win is a win..

A countback was required to separate all of those on 30 points. Chris Walsh came out best to nab second spot, ahead of Mike Firkin.

The other prizes for the day were for the best nines for non winners.

Best Front Nine……Toby Glass……..18 pts

Best Back Nine…….Selwyn Yates……18 pts c/back

Winner..”A” Flight …….Paul Bray ( 10)…………………..40 pts

A tasty curry followed by Phil’s presentation ended a near perfect day of golf.
