Links Golf 5/7

Marshall Has the Star Round

On Wednesday, 5th July the Pattaya Links Golf Society enjoyed another visit to Burapha to play a stableford competition on the C and D nines. Some serious maintenance work on C has left no scars and the course was in splendid condition with grassed fairways allowing run and greens which showed some pace. The well-tended bunkers were also no real threat, in contrast to other courses not too far away.

The large field was divided into two flights at sixteen and under and in the second flight Allistair Gall’s 33 points gave him fourth place with Wayne Peppernell edging out Mike Firkin on count back for second place, both returning 34 points. The flight winner was Welshman Mike Jeffreys and his 37 points was one of four sub-par rounds for the day.

The other three were in the top flight and saw John Pierrel edge out Phil Davies on count back for second place, both scoring 37 points. The best points total for the day was achieved by Tommy Marshall who had his game well in control with a fine 39 points return. Fourth in the flight was Paul Bray with 36 points.

The consolation “highs” went to Colin Service for the best front nine score (20) and Geordie Peter Shaw who scored 19 points to set the standard for the back nine. On his final round Charlie Gouci won his second “wig” for the day’s low round. Another happy memory for you Charlie, enjoy!

It had been an excellent day, in keeping with all our regular Burapha visits. Congratulations one and all.
