BURAPHA - Mon 12 th May 

The matchplay league resumed battle on Monday 12th May, when the pre-league joint favorites met at Burapha, the Outback Golf Bar's home venue.  

The Golf Club, led by Captain John Emmerson, had an unusual flavour to it, with no single handicappers in the team. The Outback Golf Bar matched the team, dropping all their low handicappers in order not to give away shots.  

Capt' John & Mark Reid, playing in the first match out, got The Golf Club off to a good start, beating Outbackers, Bernie Segrave & Neil Hughes fairly comprehensively. However, the middle order strength of the Outback team, namely, newcomer to the matchplay Harvey, Geoff and the two Barrys, set up the historic Outback win. 

Vic Hestor gave the Golf Club a little ray of hope beating seasoned player Don Francis, but two more newcomers to the league, Steve Plant & Terry Larose sealed the win for The Outback Golf Bar. The other little Ray of hope, the Sugarman, fought back to gain a half against Charlie Sheppard. 

Result: Outback Golf Bar 6 ½ to  The Golf Club 3 1/2 

 

Tuesday 13 th May

The Golf Club was in action again today, this time their home match against Café Kronborg.

Result: The Golf Club 4 to  Café Kronborg 3 

 

 

BANGPRA - Weds 14 th May

The third match to be played this week was between league leaders, Caddyshack and The Bunker, who resumed battle at Bangpra. In spite of rumours that they might struggle to get the full 10 man compliment of players, they came out of the blocks very quickly, taking all of the first six matches.

The Bunker fought back winning all of the last four matches but it was not enough to prevent the Caddyshack from extending their lead at the top of the table.

Result: Caddyshack 6 to The Bunker 4  

 

PHOENIX - Thurs 15th May

Finally, in this busy week, Tony's Storm Troopers played Angkana House. The Storm Troopers were captained by Alan Duffus on this occasion whilst Tony is back in the UK. Get well soon Tony, it will be great to see you back here. Alan did the best he could but your team's missing you mate!
