Growling Swan 5/10
MOUNTAIN SHADOW – 5th October, 2017.
Glenn Smith you STAR!!!!!!
Well not a great crowd numbers wise but the “Dirty Dozen” as it was were out to conquer the Mountain.
Yes it was 12, with 2 pullouts anyways we headed out full of beans. Being a Public Holiday we were prepared to pay holiday rates as per what we were quoted. What a nice surprise we got when they decided to charge normal rates. Mountain Shadow you need a pat on the back, you look after us so we look after you. And that’s why we go to play that course every month!!
So there were 12 of us, 3 groups of 4 setting out to break all records. We went from the white tees which proved to be the right as we invoked law 12;6 Sub section 9 paragraph 24 line 12. Pick Clean & Place. Having only my second hit in 8 months, although there were signs of water the course was in Tip Top condition. The fairways (if lucky enough to land on them) were near perfect and I have to say the greens played true.
The third group of 4 (last group) were disadvantaged with only one able bodied golfer there was a chance that we would finish in the dark, fortunately that never came about. But in saying that two in the group bought the able body person down to their level. The group had 26 wipes now if that had not happen and we were playing stroke we would have finished in the dark.
It was a good day by all and I am sure all golfers enjoyed themselves! They are a good bunch of people out at Mt Shadow and should be thanked again.
Well it was Glenn Smith that stood out from the throng, returning with an excellent score of 40 points a great effort once again. Buffalo Bill Steinmann came in second by the shortest of margins. Then it was Shane Young taking 3rd on a count back keeping Glenn Henriksen and Rudy Regenass out of the winning circle.
1st Glenn Smith (25) 40 pts
2nd Bill Steinmann (13) 39 pts
3rd Shane Young (26) 36 pts
5 Bernie McCart
8 Bill Steinmann
15 Alex Field
17 Chris Stewart
First Long Putt:

18 Glenn Smith
We welcomed back and at the same time said goodbye to Chris Stewart, we also welcomed back Andrew Allen.
Unfortunately with no alcohol sales the presentation was held at the course. We then headed home after Cheech & Chong had finished doing what they were doing!
Being a Budha Day D-For had the day off, he was spotted getting on a bus to go visit his family. Is still yet to be seen!
A new award came into play today and will only come into play at certain games or venues. The Butter Box Award and was or presented to the golfer that has achieved something out of the ordinary on the day. The inaugural winner was Peter Grey who pared the 5th hole. Keep in mind that he has trouble walking.
The GS is a friendly golf outlet and welcomes golfers of all persuasions. We generally play on Mondays and Thursdays at any one of the fine courses around Pattaya. For some serious golf with a dash of fun, please contact Peter Grey for bookings or any information on 0861 503086.
