TREASURE HILL – THURSDAY 12th JAN, 2017
PRO PULLS NO PUNCHES!
Three mini buses loaded up all the happy golfers for the trek to Treasure Hill minus one, no doubt hung over, slacko who shall remain nameless (but goes by the initials of Peter Bye!).
The golfers were happy, as not only did they all wake up this morning period, but the skies were clear and it looked as though a fine day, weather wise at least, was ahead of us.
At 1,150 baht during high season, including caddy and cart, is a bonus for all who live here and congratulations and appreciations must go to the management of Treasure Hill Golf Club for keeping costs reasonable at this time of the year. They had food and drink specials on offer also.
With today’s Captain being 4 handicapper Sal Brizzi, everyone expected to be playing off the white or even blue tees, however Sal in his fairness tipped the yellow tees saying that they were about 6,500 yards which would be long enough for most. He ruled that the ball was to be played where it lay with no relief through the course.
Stu Rifkin on his first game for six weeks was noted downing several San Mig’s in the bus and before he teed off. To those who were enquiring he said it calmed him down and his eight points on the front nine indicated that they were perhaps working too well?….To his credit he did rally with 19 points on the back nine.
Peter Zwart our guest pro golfer, played his last game with the Swan boys and girls before heading back to Oz and did so with a solid display, shooting four under off his 0 handicap and winning the day by a good margin. 2nd was Dave Maw who had 37 points off his 10 handicap and one point further back was a tie with Mashi Kaneta (16) and our man from Oman, Paul Sharples (14). Mashi won third spot on a count back.
In B grade John Anderson (28) won this group with 32 pints followed on a count back for second with Bernie McCart (31) winning the tie from Tony Ryan (21) both with 31 points and Andy Zwart (27) taking fourth spot with 30 points.
Bernie McCart was heard mumbling after presentations, “If I had only sunk one decent putt I would have won on a count back!”…… Better luck next week Bernie.

Back at the Swan our host Peter Grey, who has been sidelined from golf appearances with a nagging right leg problem, made welcome to our “Man from Oman” Paul Sharples and bade sad farewells to Volka Buley, Tony Ryan, Peter Bailey, Peter Greaves and Peter Zwart.
He then asked everyone (golfers and non golfers) to help themselves to the lovely hot meal he generously provided.
The GS is a “friendly” golf outlet and caters for and encourages all golfers, young and old, male or female to have a hit on any of our weekly outings. We generally play Mondays and Thursdays at one of the many fine golf courses in and around Pattaya. Please contact Peter Grey if you are interested in playing on 0861 503086
