The Golf Club 22/9

Haack rules the track!

Monday 18th – Green Valley – Eclectic – White Tees

1st – Dave Ferris (16) 40 points

2nd – Tom Balch (30) 39 points

Tuesday 19th – Green Valley – Eclectic – White Tees

1st – Troy Haack (12) 47 points

Our RGV Eclectic winner, Troy Haack.

We haven’t tried this in a while, but for a change ran a 2 day Eclectic comp out at Green Valley. There were 16 lads that were ready, willing and able for 2 days in a row and the results were quite surprising. On Monday, our first comp day, it was our D.O.G. taking top spot with a big 40 points for Dave Ferris, with regular Tommy Balch shooting a fine 39 for second place.

An Eclectic comp is taking your best score on each hole over the two days, so don’t forget to keep you scorecard overnight! Troy Haack had an unmemorable 32 points on the first day. That all changed on day 2 when he birdied his worst 3 holes for an amazing comeback that tallied up to 47 points at the end of the day. Pretty good training for the Hua Hin trip, right Troy? Great shooting mate, and have a good trip.

Also, we must thank our TGC buddy Dave Ferris for filling in for Phil for the last 2 weeks and doing a great job of running our golf, so big thanks to Khun Dave! (And I still owe you a steak!)

Thursday 21st – Greenwood A & B – Stableford – Yellow Tees

1st – Stuart Henden (14) 41 points

2nd – Greg Gawron (18) 40 points

3rd – Franjo Blazevic (4) 36 points

Not a chance of frostbite in Pattaya today and so we headed out to play one of our favourite golf courses, Greenwood. The A & B tracks were the assignment today so off we went for another perfect round of golf. Ground was damp, so we opted for the forward yellow boxes and found there was little roll out there today.

The Aussies ruled the roost as our returning pal Franjo Blazevic turned in 36 for a first round podium finish. Greg Gawron finished strong and 40 points was plenty for second. Stuart Hendon took the silverware on 41 and James McCallan had our near pin prize.

Friday 22nd – Pattaya C.C. – Stableford – White Tees

1st – Peter Henden (34) 40 points

2nd – Ian Henry (25) 38 points

3rd – David Ferris (17) 37 points

It has been ages since we played here and I was pretty impressed from what I saw. Sure, this is not the greatest course in Pattaya, but boy they sure have made some tremendous improvements here. The front nine was nearly perfect, and greens were fast and true. Being a mere 25 minutes down the road and at just 1,350 all in, how could anyone complain?

The back nine is never as good as the front, greens were quite different and far slower but a big improvement since 2 years ago! The whole course seemed more lush and tidied up and the clubhouse is now one of the best in the area. Architecturally, it could be number one.

The scoreboard says it all, Henden takes the win with 40 points and Ian and Dave a bit back to fill the podium for the day. Oh, and welcome back to Capt. Phil!

Thanks for joining us for another great week of fantasy golf in Pattaya!
