Tuesday The 25th March 2008: Green Valley ( Stableford) We had not played this Course for some time, so you forget how difficult it can be. This was the first Course I ever played here, so I have a soft spot for it, and although I think the changes made have made this a lesser Course it is still one of the best around.
On this day it was windy, and warm, so off we went into the breeze and a good day was assured. The only negative I had is that the greens had not been cut and were very slow, and this is probably why the scores were not much higher. It was difficult getting the ball to the hole.
When you finish your round, it is always a pleasure to get in the showers here, you have a choice of different shower types, great when you are hot. Shower over we can go into the German Restaurant and have some tasty food.
Back at Bert's we called the results and noted that the split was at handicap 12, the lowest I can remember, ever. So the winner in the A Flight was Perry McNeely with 35 points, the best score of the day. In second was Steve Hamstad with 34 points and in third was Bob Pearce with 33 points on countback over Richard Kubicki.
In the B Flight the winner was Mick O'Meara with 32 points ahead of a countback for second on 31 points that saw Russell Whyte in second and Brian Downey in third.
This also being the end of the Month, it was time for 'The Alan Bolton Golfer of the Month', and this Month the decision was easy as Perry won the last Competition of the Month and was a worthy winner. Well done Perry. T.T.F.N.
