PSC Fishing Report – October 2013
Pattaya Sports Club Fishing Trips Mid-October 2013
This month has provided some really good fishing for those hardy enough to risk an occasional soaking or lumpy conditions. On Thursday 10th seven of us went out from Bang Saray on the “Game Fisher”, and whilst quantities caught were not large, most of us got a few worth taking home, with several nice Greys, Snapper and Grouper between us. Colin got a fine Pompano, caught on the bottom with live-bait.
The following Wednesday Phil and Nat took a private charter on the Khram boat and were rewarded for enduring constant rain through most of the day with both quality and quantity. “The rain did not deter the fish,” said Phil. ” The only slightly odd thing was that we did not catch even one Plaa Daeng! There were though plenty of good sized Snapper / Yellow Tails / Grouper and an odd assortment of other weird looking spiny things that all lived to fight another day. The highlight of the day was the lovely Queenfish (photo). It put up a fair fight for about 15 minutes, but it was the only bite we had with three rods set-up with livebait. Not sure of the total weight of all the fish, but once home and filleted, we put just over 21 kilos of fish in the freezer – probably one of our best days.”
Last Saturday 19th only four made it on the scheduled trip, so the rest of us missed out on some great sport, most of it within the Khram channel. Colin seems to catch a Pompano every time he goes out now, but between them the guys also got Queenfish, Sweetlip, some nice Greys and a shark– the pictures can tell a better story than me….
These beauties were caught on a variety of live- and dead-bait, some on the bottom, some freelining at other depths. It is certainly encouraging to see that such nice fish are there to be caught if you’re willing to try a few different methods.
Our scheduled trips for November are Saturday 2nd, Thursday 7th, Saturday 16th and (subject to demand) Thursday 28th. The next Saturday trip is nearly full, but there are a few slots on the others. For further details and bookings visit http://pattayasports.org/ or phone John O’Neill on 0853917045
