A NEW ROOF FOR THE NURSERY
|
Another PSC project nearing completion is the re roofing of the building housing the nursery at Baan Noag School. This building houses around 40 preschool; children aged between 3 to 5 years. To be more precise it will soon house those children as the children recently had to be relocated as the building was unsafe’ Like many older buildings in our schools the roofing framework is of timber construction and over the years become a home for termites. This particular building had ceilings in danger of collapsing; it was past the stage where termite eradication would solve the problem. A new steel framework and roof cladding was required.
Once again PSC and the Jesters have combined to fund this project and it will be completed before the next school year begins in May. The reason these projects are carried out at this time of the year is that it coincides with the extended school break and causes the least amount of disruption to the day to day operations at the school.
A few progress photos are displayed below.

Work on this project proceeded at a steady clip and was completed on time at accost of B 390,000 this was shared equally with The Jesters. I would like to thank Woody [Jesters Pres.] and the builder Khun Buuentong for their cooperation in completing another successful project.
On August 4th Khun Ganya the School Principal was kind enough to invite Woody and myself to the School to observe the children in their renovated surroundings and to attend a small but sincere presentation ceremony. Baan Nok is but one of many old Schools in our community that have problems accommodating ever increasing enrolments and renovations such as this enable them to stretch limited building budgets. PSC and The Jester’s are always happy to help out in such situations as we believe that poor facilities can lead to poor results. By far the most satisfying part of the whole process working with the Schools is the response from the teachers and staff that must deal daily with tight budgets and lack of adequate facilities, of course the added bonus is the delight displayed by the children.
Below are a couple of pics of the happy students in their new surroundings.
